Cambodia on Wednesday strongly condemned a grenade blast in the capital Phnom Penh and called upon the people to cooperate with the authorities in tracing the perpetrators for prosecution.

A bomb exploded by the roadside at 7.30 p.m. in Boeung Keng Kang III commune of Chamkamon district on Tuesday night, leaving four people wounded and four cars damaged, said a statement by the Interior Ministry, Xinhua news agency reports.

Sourn Samith, chief of the emergency unit at the Khmer Soviet Hospital, identified an Indian national being treated there as Dharmendra Singh Kshetrimayum, 32.

"We received one Indian national and we are preparing to scan him and follow up on his condition. It seems like it's not too serious, just injuries to the wrist," Samith was reported as having said by The Cambodia Daily.

Security camera footage uploaded to Facebook on Tuesday showed the suspects riding a motorcycle and throwing a grenade on the road which exploded seconds later.

"The Ministry of Interior extremely regrets the incident, which caused injuries to innocent people and damaged properties," the statement said.

The statement added that the authorities were taking measures to investigate the case thoroughly in order to bring the perpetrators for prosecution in accordance with the law.

It called on people to cooperate with the authorities by providing information related to the explosion in order to determine the identity of the perpetrators.
