Car crushed between two trucks in Ghaziabad, two killed

Two men died when their car was crushed between two speeding trucks while taking a U-turn on a highway in Ghaziabad on Saturday, police said.

The accident took place near ALT centre on national highway-58 in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said the driver Lateef (30), who worked in the excise department, was on his way to drop his friend Akashdeep alias Monu at his home in Razapur. Both men died on the spot. Monu was to be married in February next year.

While coming from Raj Nagar Extension, Lateef took a U-turn towards ALT centre, and his vehicle came between the trucks.

The impact was so severe that the car was totally damaged and the bodies could only be brought out after a great effort. They were taken to a hospital where doctors declared them dead.

"A case against the two truck drivers has been registered. We have informed both the families of the dead. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination," said Inspector Ranvir Singh of Sihani Gate police station.
