Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) S.N. Vashisht Wednesday said that the cause of the death of four women in the stand-off between followers of controversial sect leader Rampal and security forces would be known only after the post-mortem examination.

The DGP confirmed six deaths, five women and a child, in the stand-off.

"The Satlok Ashram had handed over bodies of four persons to the police in the morning (Wednesday)," Vashisht told media here.

He said that the victims included Savita, 31, resident of Mitapur in New Delhi, Santosh, 45, of district Rohtak (Haryana), Malkiat Kaur, 50, of Sangrur district in Punjab and Rajbala, 70, of Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh.

"The police has neither fired a shot nor has it entered the ashram so far," the DGP said.

The DGP said that Rajni, 20, of Lalitpur district in UP, came out of the ashram in a serious condition at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

"She was reportedly suffering from heart-valve problem and was under treatment in UP. She was immediately taken to the Agroha Medical College where she expired at 8 a.m.," he said.

"Infant Mava, of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh, expired in Satlok Ashram in the morning. He was reportedly suffering from jaundice since birth. His body has been taken to the Agroha Medical College," the police chief added.
