The CBI has arrested an officer of the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR), two officials of a Mumbai-based firm and a Delhi-based middleman in a Rs.10 lakh bribery case, officials said Tuesday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the bench officer of BIFR, New Delhi; managing director and chief finance officer of the Mumbai-based private company and five people, including the middleman.
It is alleged that officials of the Mumbai company which was into manufacturing nylon and chemicals and had been declared sick by BIFR, were paying bribe to the government official to get an order in their favour.
"Searches were conducted at eight places in Delhi and Mumbai and the alleged bribe amount of Rs.10 lakh and some incriminating documents, including electronic records, were recovered from the premises of the accused people," the CBI said.
