In the wake of a warning by the Jat community that it may resume its agitation demanding quota, union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said the Centre was ready to provide paramilitary forces if Haryana demands.
The central government was always ready to provide paramilitary forces, and all kinds of security demanded by the states, Rijiju told mediapersons here after inaugurating a rifle championship at the CRPF campus in Gurgaon.
In view of a call given by Jat groups to resume their agitation, the authorities here on Thursday imposed prohibitory orders banning assembly of five or more people under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure till May 15.
Over 1,000 people were booked in Gurgaon under various sections of the Indian Penal Code during last month's Jat agitation. However, no one was arrested.
