Former senior IAS officer K.K. Khandelwal on Tuesday took over as the first Chairman of the Haryana Real Estate Authority (H-RERA).
Sameer Kumar and A.C. Kush took charge as members of the authority.
Khandelwal, a 1985-batch Indian Administrative Service officer who took voluntary retirement, told the media that builders taking consumers for a ride will not be spared.
He said to dispose off complaints within a prescribed deadline of 60 days will be a big challenge for the authority.
He said that out of Haryana's total realty projects, 65 per cent are located in Gurugram area alone.
Sameer Kumar and Kush said they plan to find ways to protect the interests of consumers and ensure healthy competition in the realty market.
Six Legal Assistants have been hired from the Education Department to help the complainants submit their complaints in a proper format.
Khandelwal said till date 200 complaints were received at the Chandigarh office of the authority, with which 254 new projects and 800 under construction projects have been registered.
On the first day, three applications for registration of agents and two complaints from home buyers were received at the authority office here.
