China Saturday successfully put a remote-sensing satellite into its scheduled orbit.

The Yaogan XX satellite lifted off at 1.45 p.m. on a Long March 4C carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in the northwestern Gobi desert, Xinhua quoted the centre as saying in a statement.

The satellite would be used to conduct scientific experiments, monitor crop yields and aid in preventing and reducing natural disasters.

The launch marked the 190th mission for China's Long March rocket family.
