China on Tuesday showcased its top-of-the-line J-20 stealth fighter jets at an airshow for the first time.

Two of the radar-evading jets did a 60-second flypast at Airshow China, in the southern city of Zhuhai, in Guangdong province.

The J-20 fighter is called Beijing's answer to the US F-22 stealth fighter and the F-35 that is set to be deployed by the US in the Pacific.

The fighters are being seen as symbol of Beijing's desire to modernise and upgrade its military capabilities.

The J-20 has been developed and made by the Chengdu Aircraft Industries Group, a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, BBC reported.
