Chinese firm keen to invest in Telangana irrigation projects

China's Gezhouba Group Company Ltd has come forward to invest and become a partner in construction of irrigation projects in Telangana, an official statement said on Friday.

A delegation of the construction and engineering company led by Huang Wanlin on Friday called on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and told him that the company which built a major barrage on Yangtze river in China has experience in executing irrigation projects.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, the Chinese firm evinced interest in making the entire investment and constructing the projects.

The chief minister explained to the delegation the state government's plans to build irrigation projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers, especially the Kaleswaram and Sitarama projects to be built on the Godavari.

He also told the delegation about the plans to build highways, bridges and other infrastructure projects.

He said another meeting will be held to work out modalities for investment and to discuss issues related to construction of the projects.
