Chinese leader Bo Xilai found guilty of taking bribe

Disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai was Sunday found guilty by a court of accepting bribes worth over 20 million yuan ($3.3 million).

The Jinan intermediate people's court, however, ruled that there was insufficient evidence supporting that he accepted 1.34 million yuan worth of air ticket fees as bribes, reports Xinhua.

The indictment during the first trial in August said Bo's wife and son accepted air ticket fees from businessman Xu Ming.

Bo, 64, is a former secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and a former member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

He was suspended by the CPC central committee in 2012 after being suspected of serious disciplinary violations.

According to the court indictment, Bo took the advantage of his position as a civil servant to seek gains for others, and accepted bribes in the form of large amounts of money and property.

He was also charged with embezzling a large amount of public money and abusing his power, and seriously harming the interests of the state and people.
