Actress Chitrashi Rawat, who plays the lead role in upcoming social-thriller "Black Home" hopes the film generates awareness about the brutality and cruelty faced by girls in remand homes.
Directed by Ashish Deo, the film is based on true incidents and attempts to reveal the life of girls in remand homes.
"We have worked very hard on 'Black Home'. This is a subject that I would like everybody to know about. It is about those girls whom nobody thinks about and even if one does, then nobody talks about it," Chitrashi told reporters here Friday at the film's music launch.
"Everything tends to happen in front of our eyes, but as a society we fail to do anything about them. So I really hope that it generates awareness around what's happening, how the girls are brutally treated in the remand homes," she added.
The actress, who has featured in films like "Chak De! India" and "Fashion", does not favour remand homes for girls.
"Instead, there should be foster care for them. They should get a home," she said.
The length of her roles has not been a priority for Chitrashi, who has also been a former hockey player.
"I have been very lucky that I have got to play good roles. For me it's important that whatever you have been given, you have to deliver. It's okay if the role is small, but that has to be powerful and noticeable," Chitrashi, who also did a small stint on TV in "F.I.R.", said.
"Even if in a two-hour film, you have a 10-minute scene on the screen, people should say, 'She did a good job in the film'. That's my main aim. It's okay if I don't get the lead always, but when anything interesting comes along, I am always okay with it," she added.
Produced by Ajay Suryawanshi and Mahesh Salunke, "Black Home" also features Murli Sharma and Ashwini Kaleskar. It is slated to release later this year.
