Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, embroiled in a row over the Vyapam scam in his state, on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence here.

"The meeting was about the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog's sub-group, of which I am the convener. All the memebers of the sub-group have submitted their recommendations and I informed the prime minister about the same," Chauhan told reporters after his 40-minute meeting with Modi.

"The sub-group has completed its work. After arriving at a concensus on the recommendations, we will submit our report," said a statement released by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Chouhan informed the prime minister about the preparations of Simhastha (Kumbh) festival in 2016 at Ujjain. He also invited the prime minister to attend the concluding session of Simhastha.

However, sources said, cabinet expansion in Madhya Pradesh was also on Chouhan's agenda.

Meanwhile, both houses of parliament on Friday witnessed strong protests by the Congress-led opposition over the Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal or Vyapam scam.

Proceedings of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been repeatedly disrupted since the start of the monsoon session on July 21 over the Vyapam recruitment scam and other issues.
