A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable killed four senior colleagues with his service rifle in Bihar's Aurangabad district on Thursday in a fit of rage following a heated argument over leave, an official said.

The incident was reported around 12.30 p.m. during changing of shift at the Nabinagar Power Generation Company Limited (NPGCL) unit guarded by the central armed force.

"Constable Balveer Singh deliberately opened fire from his service rifle during B shift briefing near the quarter guard, where he had been on duty from 9 a.m. to 12 noon," a CISF official told IANS.

Singh fired about two dozen bullets, killing head constables Bachha Sharma and Amarnath Mishra on the spot, while Assistant Sub Inspector G. S. Ram and head constable Arvind Kumar later succumbed to their injuries in a nearby hospital.

Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, was overpowered by other CISF personnel and later handed over to police who arrested him, the official said.

The incident took place when the victims and some other CISF troops had assembled for a shift change.

Singh, who had recently undergone a de-stressing course in Yoga between November 10 and December 24 last year at the CISF's training institute in Deoli in Rajasthan, was reportedly agitated over an administrative issue regarding his leave after he resumed duty on January 4.

A heated argument ensued over the issue and the CISF trooper started firing his rifle multiple times, the official said.

The official said that Singh had gone on leave to his home before resuming duty on January 4.
