Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Friday that clean water would soon flow into the river Ghaggar passing through the state as the Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) installed in the major townships along the river are expected to be made fully functional by next year.

"Though Haryana has no river which exclusively flown from the state, various steps have been taken to ensure that clean water flow into the rivers," he said in his address at the 'Rally for Rivers' programme launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation.

He said that STPs have also been installed for the cleanliness of Yamuna River and also to check the filthy water entering into the river.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev said that the campaign the 'Rally for Rivers', which he started from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu on September 3 this year would culminate in Delhi on October 2.

"All political leadership, irrespective of party ideology, responded in one voice in favour of Rally for Rivers campaign," he said.

"It is a matter of concern that river water has been constantly depleting during the last 25 years. This is a problem which cannot not be resolved in a month. Development is happening in the country, but we also have to think of the sustainability otherwise our development and sustainability both would be threatened," he added.
