Colo Colo, Universidad de Chile draw in Chilean derby

Colo Colo and Universidad de Chile drew in the 179th edition of the Chilean Super Classic derby football match.

The first half was dull with a lot of midfield action which resulted in no goals apart from a powerful shot from Gustavo Canales here on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

The second half was a repeat of the first one. Both teams seemed to focus more on destroying rather than creating opportunities.

Colo Colo midfielder Jean Beausejour was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the 75th minute. It was the only notable incident of the match. Universidad de Chile failed to take advantage of this.

Despite the poor performances of both sides, Colo Colo managed to remain at the top of the standings over Universidad Catolica, by only one point.

Universidad de Chile also gained a point from the draw but it makes no difference to the team as they are still in the lower end of the standings and are in danger of being relegated.
