West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday pledged her commitment to realise the rights of the state's minorities.

The Trinamool Congress chief said the Bengal government is "steadfast in its efforts to realise the rights reserved for minorities section under the Indian constitution".

"Not only in the fields of education and culture, minorities have a right to equality in the social, economic and language areas. We are fully committed towards establishing this right.

"This Minority Rights Day let us pledge for their right to development," she said in a message via her party's official site.
