Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani on Friday said her ministry will reach a conclusion on revocation of RTE Act's no-detention clause only after taking a comprehensive written views of states.
"We have requested all state governments to put their views in writing to us. Only after taking a comprehensive view of all written views we receive from all state governments, deliberations with academicians and child psychologists, we will reach a final conclusion," she told media persons here.
Recently, at the Central Advisory Board of Education meeting, education ministers of 20 state unanimously backed the need to amend the RTE Act to enable yearly examinations and detention of poor performers.
Irani was in Kolkata for a meeting with education ministers of West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand on the national education policy.
Irani said the first draft of the new education policy will be out by December.
"The first draft will become the draft on which we will have further deliberations on. I will be visiting certain institutes across the country to understand the need of the parents and students about the policy," she added.
