The Congress party on Saturday celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of the country's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
A series of events have been lined up by the party.
On Saturday morning, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes to Nehru at the Shanti Van memorial site, dedicated to him.
A public meeting is being held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, while a musical programme is scheduled to be held in the evening at Nehru Park here.
Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad on November 14, 1889 and died on May 27, 1964.
He became the first prime minister of India after the country's independence in 1947 and served till his death.
