Mangat Ram Sharma, a senior Congress leader and a former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, died here on Thursday.
Congress spokesman Ravinder Sharma said Sharma was 85 years old.
Mangat Ram Sharma served as an MLA for 32 years and was a minister in various Congress governments in the state.
When Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was the Chief Minister heading a PDP-Congress coalition in 2002, Sharma became the Deputy Chief Minister.
