The Congress leadership wants to field former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's wife Priyadarshini in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, party sources said.
"The final decision depends on Scindia, but the party has given him two choices -- Guna Shivpuri and Gwalior seats," said a party source.
The Congress swept to power in Madhya Pradesh in December last year after ending almost one-and-a-half decade rule of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Congress sources said party President Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi want to field Priyadarshini in the Lok Sabha elections. However, Scindia has not cleared his stand.
The Congress recently appointed Scindia as General Secretary for west Uttar Pradesh. "He has a big responsibility... it is possible that he may not contest," said a party source, adding that situation may pave the way for his wife to contest.
Priyadarshini is already active in Congress stronghold Guna.
