The central government on Monday said it is considering to auction completed national highways (NHs) projects on a toll-operate-transfer (TOT) basis.
Minster of State (MoS) for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan said the proceeds from such monetisation will be utilised for construction, operation and maintenance of NHs throughout the country.
"The user fees shall be collected post-auction by the selected concessionaire as per existing provisions of the national highways fee rules, 2008 and amendments thereof, for a pre-determined concession period," the minister informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
"NH projects to be bid under this mode will be finalised once the proposal is approved by the government."
