The Delhi High Court on Wednesday allowed Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to hold the upcoming fourth Test of the ongoing India-South Africa series at Ferozeshah Kotla stadium as scheduled.
A division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva directed the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to issue the provisional occupancy certificate to DDCA by Thursday for the period from December 1 to December 10.
The match is scheduled to be held from December 3 to December 7.
The bench asked the DDCA to deposit Rs.50 lakh within two weeks with SDMC towards the property tax dues.
It also appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal to oversee the affairs of the upcoming Test.
The Delhi government suggested the bench that a retired judge of high court could be appointed as an observer to oversee the affairs and revenue of DDCA.
DDCA had moved the court seeking direction to SDMC to issue a provisional occupancy certificate (POC) to hold the fourth Test.
India is currently leading the four-match series 1-0 after winning the first match in Mohali and playing out a rain-marred draw in the second game at Bengaluru.
DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan welcomed the appointment of Justice Mukul Mudgal to oversee the affairs of the Test.
