A Tripura court is expected to deliver its verdict Thursday against a police official accused of breach of trust and negligence in duty, a charge for which the prosecution has demanded life imprisonment for him, a lawyer said here.
Special Public Prosecutor Lutfur Rahman Khadim said West Tripura district's Additional Sessions Judge Kripankar Chakraborty was urged to consider sentencing Superintendent of Police Manik Lal Majumder to life term.
Khadim told reporters that Majumder, now posted in the police headquarters, faced charges of destroying documents in a forgery case whose probe he supervised in 2009.
"Majumder destroyed documents from official files while supervising investigations into a forgery case against a food department employee," said Khadim.
