Croatian national football team was in brilliant form in front of the sellout crowd at Gradski vrt Stadium here, beating Azerbaijan 6-0 in their third match of the Euro 2016 qualifying.
Wolfsburg winger Ivan Perisic scored twice, while Andrej Kramaric, Marcelo Brozovic and Luka Modric had one each, as well as an own goal from Azerbaijan captain Rashad Sadygov Monday night, reports Xinhua.
"I am very happy because we played a great match, scored a lot of goals and made our supporters happy. We could've even scored some more," joyous Croatian national head coach Niko Kovac said.
"It was a great match for us. I feel that in front of such a crowd and in this town we can't play a bad match. We pressed them, we knew that we are a better prepared team and we took advantage of that," defender Vedran Corluka said.
Azerbaijan head coach Berti Vogts once again had no luck against the Croats. At the 1998 World Cup in France it was Croatia that beat Germany 3-0 under Vogt's guidance.
After three rounds of Euro qualifiers, Croatia are top of Group H standings with a maximum of nine points.
In their last match of 2014, Croatia will travel to Milan where they will take on Italy Nov 16, another team with nine points from three matches.
