Filmmaker Edward Zwick says actor Tom Cruise is a very generous actor, adding that he goes out of his way to make his co-stars on the set feel comfortable.
Zwick and Cruise have reunited for "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back". Cruise returns as the rogue hero, when Susan Turner (played Cobie Smulders), a friend and high ranking officer, is accused of espionage.
Cruise and Zwick first worked together on "The Last Samurai" back in 2003.
"Tom is a very generous actor with his co-stars. He really went out of his way for them. Not just with Cobie (Smulders) but with Danika Yarosh too, who plays the young girl in the movie. He really made them feel beyond welcome," Zwick said in a statement.
He added: "They had some physical stunts and he invited him into his whole process with the stunt team and the trainers - to really get into shape to be able to do some of the things they had to do.
"And so I would say it was a happy set. Frankly, I think that tone is set from the number one on the call sheet. And Tom's approach to this process is very joyous because he spends more time making movies than he does anything else. He really puts his time and energy into it and he really wants it to be a group of happy campers."
"Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is a follow-up to the 2012 hit "Jack Reacher". Zwick is known for directing films like "Glory", "Legends of the Fall", "Courage Under Fire", and "Blood Diamond".
Viacom18 Motion Pictures is distributing "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" in India. It will release on Friday.
