Government doctors in Punjab, particularly Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and civil surgeons, have been asked by the health minister not to leave their place of posting without permission.

"All SMOs and civil surgeons should stay 24x7 at the place of their posting and no one would leave the station without prior permission from the officer concerned," Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said Sunday in a statement issued here.

Mittal has issued instructions to the health officers and asked them to ensure proper attendance of supporting staff in government hospitals.
