Port-of-Spain (Trinidad), June 18 (IANS/CMC) West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor says encouragement from bowling legend Sir Curtly Ambrose has contributed to his recent success with the ball in the current Test series against New Zealand.
Taylor, who has been among the leading wicket takers for West Indies, grabbed four for 34 on the opening day of the second Test Monday to help tilt the balance in favour of the home side, reports CMC.
His bowling exploits have highlighted an impressive return to international cricket after nearly five years' absence.
"I have been having a lot of talks with Sir Curtly and he is someone from whom you can learn a lot from in terms of fast bowling," Taylor said.
"He is passing on a lot of the knowledge and that is something that is vital for us."
Taylor removed Hamish Rutherford early on the first day, before snaring three more scalps in the final session to wreck New Zealand's middle order.
He credited his performances to the inputs provided by West Indies' bowling coach Ambrose, a former West Indies pacer.
"I must give some credit to him, he had done a lot for us in terms of mindset and approach to the game," said Taylor.
"He continues to stress that in Test cricket you need to be patient with the ball".
