A senior minister in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet has been booked for dacoity and threatening a person, police said Thursday.
Minister of Fisheries Iqbal Masood was booked in Sambhal district following a court order. He has denied the charges against him.
He was accused of threatening and barging into the house of a lawyer with some 15 accomplices and looting valuables.
The complainant, Nutan Vijay, told the court of an additional judicial magistrate May 28 that the minister threatened him with dire consequences last month for burning his effigy.
After hearing the case, the court directed police to file a case against the minister and his men, police officer Hari Ram told IANS.
