DCW moves HC after two minors raped in Delhi

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday said it has approached the Delhi High Court after two minor girls were raped here in the last two days.

It told the court that the central government had not taken adequate steps on its recommendations regarding the safety of women in the national capital.

The commission approached the Delhi High court in the wake of the rape of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl at Sarai Rohilla and the rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Keshavpuram.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal on Monday visited one of the the rape victims who was hospitalised here.

The three-and-a-half-year-old girl was raped by a 35-year-old. He attempted to murder her and left her unconscious in critical condition, Maliwal tweeted.

She said she was fed up requesting the central government for a high-level committee on women's safety in Delhi. "DCW has approached High Court to seek relief."

Currently, the matter is being heard by a division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Ashutosh Kumar.

DCW moved an application in the high court seeking to be a party in the matter.

It has sought direction for the committe to meet once within a month, to take decisions and monitor implementation of the same on issues concerning women's safety.

The women's body has urged the High Court to take certain steps for women's safety. It said the central government should allot Nirbhaya Fund for installing CCTV cameras in DTC buses and at bus shelters.

DCW also sought notification of the Delhi Victim Compensation Scheme, 2015 and to provide reasons and fix responsibility for the delay of over one year in notifying the crucial scheme enhancing the compensation amount for rape and acid attack victims.
