The Delhi Government on Wednesday appointed all the five Regional Health Directors as nodal officers to prepare medical reports of girl rape survivors and send it to the Health Department by 10th of every month.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) had been receiving complaints that MLC (medico-legal certificate) reports were not being given to child rape survivors and that the directives of the Delhi High Court regarding MLC of child rape survivals were not being followed, a government release said.
Subsequently, the Commission had written to the department on February 17 seeking its reply.
The Health Department has informed the Commission that it has appointed five Regional Health Directors as nodal officers, who will ensure that the directions of the high court are complied with, according to the release.
Some of the important points determined by the high court are conducting MLC of girl child rape survivor by a lady doctor, providing psychologist to the girl child rape survivor before conducting MLC and provide medical treatment to the girl child rape survivor when necessary.
All hospitals will prepare MLC according to the parameters determined by the high court and the responsibility of preparing MLC report has been given to nodal officers, according to the release.
