Three people have been arrested for killing a jeweller at his house here, police said Thursday.
Rakesh Thakur, 32, was shot dead at his house in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar Monday morning by two people. The accused knocked at his door and shot him when he opened it.
Bhupinder, 25, Ajay, 25, and Vinod Kumar, 24, were arrested from their hideout in Delhi.
The killing was planned by Rakesh's elder brother Rajesh, police said.
"Rajesh conspired with Vinod and the others to kill his younger brother Rakesh with whom he has a prolonged property dispute. Further investigation is on to unearth the complete plot and the sequence of events and to arrest the remaining accused," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar.
"It was a contract killing in which a person hired a killer to eliminate his brother to settle a property dispute. The killers were promised a hefty amount for the killing," he said.
