Delhi Metro will organise a week-long series of activities to celebrate Independence Day, an official said Saturday.
"All the premises of Delhi Metro such as stations, viaducts, depots and residential enclaves will be decorated with the Tricolour, banners and illumination which will try to invoke the spirit of Independence Day among the commuters," a spokesperson of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.
"The National Flag will be hoisted at all major offices, depots and metro stations and patriotic songs will be played."
The week-long programme will commence Aug 10 with the screening of a short film on the Delhi Metro.
DMRC will also launch an awareness campaign about the importance of using public transport.
