Angry over his father's refusal to give him Rs.200, a young man hanged himself early Monday in Gudumba area of the state capital, police said.
Dheerendra Nath, 27, went to his home drunk and asked his father to give him Rs.200.
Bihari Gautam, his father who works for the Indian Railways, refused to give him the money and rebuked him instead.
Dheerendra went to his room and hanged himself from the ceiling fan.
Later, Police broke into his room and cut down the body.
Neighbours said the youth was a habitual drinker and often fought with his family for money. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
