Dilip Ghosh, who formally took charge on Saturday as West Bengal state BJP president, asserted his primary task was to steer the party to victory in the assembly polls next year.
Ghosh, a general secretary in the state Bharatiya Janata Party, replaced Rahul Sinha, whose term has ended. Sinha is now a national secretary.
"People in Bengal were not happy with the first parivartan (Trinamool Congress coming to power in 2011 by ending the Left Front's 34 year rule). They are now readying for the second phase of change.
"All party workers and leaders will work unitedly. There is some confusion among outsiders (about the party). We will clear all confusion and we will work in unison to take the BJP on the road to victory . I firmly believe all the leaders and party workers will help me," Ghosh told the media here.
A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak (volunteer), Ghosh was sent on deputation to the BJP about a year ago.
"The work which we have started in the last six months in Bengal will go on, its pace will increase in coming days," he asserted.
Sinha said the central leadership has iterated that "my first priority is Bengal."
"I also believe that first priority is Bengal. Dilip da is also saying the same thing. There is no disparity in that," Sinha said, adding the fight for the polls will "intensify" in the coming months.
"The change in post of president will not affect the fight," he said.
