With "Sasural Simar Ka" taking a leap of 18 years, Dipika Kakar will be seen playing the role of a mother. The actress says she had no hangups about playing an elderly character.

"I was completely ready for it. In fact, when I was told that we are taking the first big leap, I was really excited about it," Dipika told IANS.

The show, which went on air on Colors in 2011, began by telling the tale of two sisters who get married in the same family, and their life at their in-laws' place. It went through many twists and turns.

Dipika feels since the show was on air for such a long time, the leap is organic.

"If it is a daily soap which has run for five and a half years and then if you take leap, I don't think it is wrong... And it should have a leap because then it adds freshness. As a viewer, I would personally like if the leap happens since it offers something new. I think it works in favour of the show."

With the show, Dipika not only got fame, but also brickbats for the way her character shaped up. In the show, her character Simar Bharadwaj turned into a 'makhi' (fly) following a 'shraap' (curse), also went to hell and fought evil spirits to safeguard her family.

The actress says after playing 'super bahu', she is excited to play a super mother.

"We have always seen Simar as a very responsible super woman bahu, but now you will see as a mother. She would stand against her daughter to get her right."

Contestant's Kangana avatar stumps 'Super Dancer' judges

When a little girl took on actress Kangana Ranaut's looks and avatars from her various popular songs to show her dancing talent on "Super Dancer", it left the show's judges -- actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, choreographer Geeta Kapur and filmmaker Anurag Basu -- in awe.

The contestant, named Dipali Borkar, is a huge fan of Kangana, and so she adapted the "Queen" star's avatars for her performance.

"As soon as she started with her performance, the judges felt like they were watching Kangana Ranaut performing live. Shilpa not only complimented Dipali for her dance act, but also gave her a standing ovation," said a source from the set.

The source added that Geeta and Anurag were also impressed by Dipali and performed with her on stage.

"Super Dancer" will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television starting Saturday.

Want to romance Shahid, Ranveer in film debut: Devoleena

Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who is garnering applause for her portrayal of Gopi Bahu in the popular soap opera "Saath Nibhana Saathiya", says she is open to be a part of the big screen. She wishes to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

"I want to make a debut on the big screen and romance Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Doing Bollywood movies, that too with them, will be my dream come true moment," Devoleena said in a statement.

"I also want to see myself in Bollywood movies working with well-known production houses like Yash Raj Films or in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movies," she added.

While she is seen donning ethnic wear on "Saath Nibhana Saathiya", Devoleena says that she wants to explore a western look in films.

"I won't mind to switch to western avatar and would love to see myself in western look on camera. I wear western clothes off screen too," she added.
