The DMK Tuesday named N. Anand as its candidate for the Srirangam assembly constituency, where the by-poll is slated Feb 13.
In a statement issued here, DMK president M. Karunanidhi announced Anand's name as the party's candidate for the by-poll.
The by-poll was necessitated following the disqualification of AIADMK general secretary and former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, who was convicted in a corruption case last year.
In the 2011 assembly election, Anand had contested against Jayalalithaa and lost by around 40,000 votes.
