A woman doctor, who conducted the medical examination of the woman executive allegedly raped by a driver of the Uber taxi company, told a court here Wednesday that after looking at the scratch marks on the woman's body, she considers that the woman was raped.

Neelam, a doctor at the Hindu Rao Hospital, told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that she found various scratch marks on the woman's body and swelling in her lips. All the injuries were fresh in nature.

Quizzed by the defence counsel of driver Shiv Kumar Yadav about her opinion on the scratch marks, she said: "Considering the observation made by me in the MLC (Medico legal case), I can say that that the victim was raped."

Neelam was testifying as a prosecution witness.

The court also recorded the statement of a nodal officer of Airtel in the case.

The court will Thursday record the statements of four prosecution witnesses - an expert from the Forensic Science Laboratory, a doctor and two police officials.

Meanwhile, the court disposed of an application by the accused driver in which he alleged he was threatened and attacked in the prison van by fellow inmates while he was being taken back to jail after the Jan 17 court proceedings.

The court directed police to ensure his security and provide him a separate enclosure in the prison van.

Yadav, 32, allegedly raped the woman executive in the cab she hired to head back home in north Delhi's Inderlok area Dec 5 last year.

The court last week framed charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm or endangering the life of a woman, kidnapping a woman, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt under various sections of the Indian Penal Code against Yadav.

The trial is being conducted on a day-to-day basis.
