Havana, July 28 (IANS/EFE) Actress Alina Rodriguez, one of Cuba's top stars of stage and screen, died after a long struggle against cancer, media reports said on Tuesday. She was 63.
Recently honoured with multiple prizes on and off the island for her role as "Carmela" in the 2014 film "Conducta", Rodriguez rolled out a successful career that spanned more than 30 years and made her a perennial favourite with audiences and critics alike.
The role of "Justa" in telenovela "Tierra Brava" and as the star of the 1990 film "Maria Antonia" were among the artist's most memorable performances.
Her appearance with Cuban stage actor Hector Quintero in "Contigo, Pan y Cebolla" made into a movie that premiered in 2014, helped make her one of the most admired leading ladies of Cuban show business.
