Italian football federation (FIGC) president Giancarlo Abete said that they have not begun their search for Cesare Prandelli's possible successor.

Prandelli, who replaced Marcello Lippi after the 2010 FIFA World Cup as Italy's head coach, is expected to return to club management following next summer's World Cup. Some reports suggested that FIGC had already contacted Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri and Japan's Alberto Zaccheroni, reports Xinhua.

Abete dismissed the rumours.

"We have not begun any discussions with any other tacticians. After World Cup qualification is secured, we will sit down with Prandelli and discuss the future. There will be great transparency from us because we are not a club. Prandelli could still be an option. I'll talk with him to try and understand what his intentions are. We are very attached to him as he is to us," Abete said Monday.
