Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has finally shifted to his new official residence in the city - C-II/23, Tilak Lane - from adjoining Ghaziabad city in Uttar Pradesh.

The house, near the Patiala House court complex, is a 15-minute drive away from the secretariat from where the city government functions.

"All his belongings have been shifted and it (Saturday) was his first day in the house," a close aide of Kejriwal told IANS.

The house, spread over an area of 1,600 square feet, has three bedrooms, two servant quarters and a common garage.

This is the second government house which has been allotted to Kejriwal after he refused to move into two five-bedroom duplex flats following controversy over the residence being too grand for an "austere" chief minister who is vehemently against VIP culture.

In Ghaziabad, the Aam Aadmi Party chief was living in a government flat allotted to his wife who is an Indian Revenue Service officer.
