A US drone strike has killed five Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
At least five Taliban militants were killed and two others were injured in the aerial attack carried out in Marsangi area of Lal Pur district on Saturday, Khaama press reported Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, Nangarhar province police spokesman, as saying.
According to Mashriqiwal, those killed included a local commander of the group.
According to reports and local officials, Taliban and Daesh have speeded up their activities and recruitment in the eastern province.
Militants have established prisons at least in one district of this province.
The governor of Achin district said militants are holding many people at three detention centres in his district.
