Real Madrid Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is the lone male in the list of the top five most followed people online.
Apple Tree Communications said in a statement on Thursday that Cristiano's followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have reached 238 million people, reports Efe.
American singer Taylor Swift leads the list with 246 million followers, followed by Ronaldo, then U.S. singer Katy Perry in third place with 219 million followers, Selena Gomez with 205 million followers and finally Barbadian singer Rihanna with 190 million followers.
The report identified that 13 on the top 20 list are musicians, with 60 per cent women, while 65 per cent are from the United States.
The situation in Spain is different, as the first four most followed Spaniards are all soccer players, including Andres Iniesta, Serjio Ramos, Gerard Pique and star golakeeper Iker Casillas.
