At least four members of a family committed suicide Tuesday in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, police said.
The incident occurred at Dhenkanal town, the district headquarters but came to light after Arjun Kumar Sahu, the family head, brought them to a government hospital, police officer Pradip Pradhan said.
The hospital received the bodies of Sahu's wife, two sons and a daughter, Pradhan said.
Sahu, a retired government employee told police that his wife and children had consumed 12-15 antimalarial pills each.
They were disturbed over the prolonged illness of their married daughter, who was staying with the family for quite some time, police said citing Sahu.
Police have sent the bodies for autopsy.
