Four people died in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district after consuming illicit liquor at a wedding, police said Saturday.
The tragedy took place at Rampur Ramoli village, when people from the bridegroom's side, including his father, consumed liquor served to them Friday.
Superintendent of Police Kiran H. told IANS that many people reportedly drank illicit liquor during the marriage of Ram Manohar Lohia's daughter, resulting in the death of four people, identified as Mastram Dhooria, 55, Rajendra, 28, Ram Chandra Verma, 30 and Inderjeet Verma, 35.
The dead bodies have been taken away by the police for autopsy. Officials of the excise department visited the village Saturday afternoon, and some liquor pouches and bottles have also been seized from the site.
