Four new polio cases surface in Pakistan

At least four new polio cases have surfaced in Pakistan with the total number of cases rising to 287, media reported Thursday.

The new cases were reported from Nasirabad and Qilla Abdullah in Balochistan province, Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sanghar in Sindh province of the country.

Official data shows that an overwhelming 96 percent of polio cases reported so far were found in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

This year, 173 polio cases were reported in FATA, followed by 64 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19 in Balochistan, three in Punjab and two in Sindh.
