The government on Friday said that it has awarded three rail connectivity projects under the 'Sagarmala' programme.
"Three rail connectivity projects under the Ministry of Shipping's flagship programme 'Sagarmala', worth Rs.38.71 crores have been awarded by Indian Port Rail Company Limited (IPRCL)," the Ministry of Shipping said in a statement.
"These projects will help to increase connectivity and efficiency of ports."
According to the ministry, the awarded contracts consists of two projects at Visakhapatanam Port Trust and one project at Chennai Port Trust.
"IPCRL is also working towards executing 18 more port connectivity projects," the statement added.
"All these projects will help in better port connectivity and quick evacuation of cargo."
