The Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry on Wednesday said they are planning to introduce online course on nutrition for better implementation of "Poshan Abhiyaan" scheme.
"WCD, with the assistance of National Institute of Nutrition, is in the process of developing an online course for nutrition. These courses are planned to be hosted independently by the Ministry and the National Institute of Nutrition portals," it said in a statement.
In a meeting, chaired by Union WCD Minister Maneka Gandhi, with members from the NITI Aayog, three modules of the course were presented and a decision on celebrating September as "National Nutrition Month" was also taken.
The Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission), launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year, targets to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight among children, and also focuses on adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
