Stressing the importance of Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill to the NDA leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that it needs to be passed at the earliest.
The Prime Minister was addressing a meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) floor leaders in the parliament house building.
"Prime Minister explained about the importance of GST and emphasised the need to pass it at the earliest," Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu told reporters after the meeting, adding that all the constituents of NDA are supporting GST..
"They have said that as and when the bill is taken up, they are in favour of it," he said.
Earlier in the day, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said that all parties have made it clear that the long-pending GST Bill should be "taken to a logical conclusion" in the ongoing Monsoon Session and the government is keen to run "extra mile" to ensure its early passage by Rajya Sabha.
