Gujarat State Assembly Speaker Ganpat Vasava on Monday announced that a senior woman legislator would conduct the day's proceedings on the International Women's day.

Vasava said that senior legislator Neema Acharya, who is on the panel of presiding officers, would handle the day's session while women legislators would be given priority during the Question Hour and Assembly discussions on Tuesday.

According to an official release, this initiative by the speaker has found praise from across the party lines.

Neema Acharya, who represents Anjar constituency in Kutch district, is from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
