'Gurgaon builders not keen on solving basic amenities issues'

Top officials posted in Gurgaon Saturday apprised the Haryana chief secretary that the basic amenities in colonies developed by builders or colonisers were poor and private players were not interested in either solving the problems or even listing orders from bureaucrats.

At a meeting at the divisional commissioner's office here, Chief Secretary S. C. Choudhary directed the officers to chalk out a plan for repair, maintenance and carpeting of roads in this Millennium City and strictly adhere to the time line.

Choudhary said there was no shortage of funds for development work. He, however, said some officers were not doing enough work despite the availability of resources and warned that this would not be tolerated.

He said the Municipal Corporation Gurgaon and the Haryana Urban Development Authority would prepare action plans for making roads trafficworthy. Initially, the major roads would be taken up.

Commissioner of Gurgaon Division D.P.S. Naggal told Choudhary that "People are complaining as roads in colonies are not good. The residents are also not allowed to enter community centres which the colonisers use for various purposes."

Choudhary said he would ask the director general, Town and Country Planning, to get a schedule prepared from the colonisers for repair and maintenance of roads there.

Issues like flyover construction at Hero Honda Chowk, repair of roads, garbage management, checking illegal extraction of ground water, were also discussed.
